25TH ANNIVERSARY AKZONOBEL ART FOUNDATION
This year, the AkzoNobel Art Foundation has been collecting art for 25 years: a silver anniversary! Time to celebrate! In 2021, the anniversary exhibition will open as a celebration of recognition, with “old heroes & new talents”. The exhibition entitled We Are The Collection will unfold like a vibrant fan, flush with images and stories by artists who have inspired us, and do so to this day as they continue to suggest new and unexplored connections.
AkzoNobel has been collecting art from internationally renowned artists and young talent for 25 years. Within the company, art serves as a source of inspiration, creative reflection and as an expression of AkzoNobel’s social and cultural responsibility. Since 2016, you can also visit the AkzoNobel Art Space at the head office in Amsterdam; a publicly accessible exhibition space. Since the opening, we have received almost 200,000 visitors here! We are proud of this success and the richness of the collection!
ENJOY ART AT HOME – COLLECT THE COLLECTION
In addition to a spectacular exhibition, we also wanted to create something especially for you, the employees of AkzoNobel. The “We” from the title of the exhibition is of course about the artworks and the artists, but also about you, the audience! We want to celebrate twenty-five years of collecting together.
In the past 25 years we have regularly received the question; “Can I buy that work myself, take it with me after my retirement, or give it to a colleague as a goodbye-gift?” People become attached to artworks around them; which is the best compliment you can get.
We have developed Collect the Collection in collaboration with We Like Art. We Like Art has been working with well-known names and special talent within the art world since 2010 and has quickly grown into the most important provider of artist editions in the Netherlands.
For Collect the Collection, we selected ten much-loved works from the collection. Based on these artworks, the artists created a new artwork in edition. Each work is signed and numbered by the artist. Anyone who wants to can take a piece of the collection home for a relatively small amount!
HOW IT WORKS
The editions will be launched during the year. They will be featured on this website and will be on show physically in the AkzoNobel Art Space at the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam. We start with 3 special editions. During the year, editions of other artists will be added monthly!
The art is sold without a frame and is only available in the online webshop. Buy your favorite artwork through the webshop and your purchase will be sent to you by post (worldwide) within 2 weeks in sturdy cardboard packaging. Prices vary between € 300 and € 2,000. Good to know: the AkzoNobel Art Foundation does not earn from selling these artwork editions. The proceeds go to the artist and the performing party: We Like Art.
The special editions will be on display in the Art Space of the AkzoNobel headquarters in Amsterdam. Purchasing will only be available online. The AkzoNobel Art Space is open on weekdays from Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
